Too Much Rain

It has been raining here for two days.  Not just the usual drizzle and rain, but pounding rain.

I took this picture through the windshield of my car.

I am looking forward to some sunshine!

My Handsome Boy Gus

I cannot imagine my life without a dog.  Growing up my family had dalmations.  Gus is our second yellow lab.  He is such a good boy.  He likes to be helpful.  Everytime I come home from grocery shopping I have to give him something to carry into the house for me.  He drops it off in the kitchen and is proud of his accomplishment and seeks praise.  He likes to pick up things that don't belong to him, like hats, gloves, socks etc, and parade around you with them in his mouth hoping that a chase will ensue.  If he realizes that you are not interested he will simply drop them on his bed and lay down.

Which GGG?

Choice #1:  Gorgeous, Glitzy & Glamerous
Choice #2:  Gaudy, Garish & Gross

For me, it is choice #1.  I think glitzy and sparkly jewelry is so much fun.  They are great accent pieces.  I am sad because only one of them is mine.  The other two belong to my daughter - but she does share!

My First Quilt

After my son was born I decided that I was going to take a quilting class and learn how to quilt.  The class lasted for eight weeks.  Every week we had to sew two squares and the last two weeks were used to sew the whole quilt together.  I was the only one in the class who finished her quilt on time.  I think I was afraid that if I fell behind I wouldn't be able to figure out how to do the actual quilting, make the binding and sew it on.  This quilt is now 17 years old.   I have made only one other larger quilt since then.  I think it is time to start another one.

What is it?

It is horseradish.  A co-worker of mine has a vegetable garden as big as a football field and every now and then he brings in something for the girls in the office.  This time it was horseradish.  I got a recipie off the internet and figured I'd try it.
Now they are ready for processing.  Peel and cut.  Put in a blender.  Add vinegar, salt and sugar.  Puree.
This is the finished product and boy it is ever potent.  I think I will mix some with beets to take the heat off.

New Mugs

I just got these mugs last Saturday.  I don't know what it is, but drinking coffee or tea from a beautiful mug makes it taste much better.

Soon to be Pins

I went to Michael's craft store on Saturday to get my light house x-stitch framed.  Of course I had to look at everything in the store.  I came across these 2 pendants in the bead/jewelry aisle.  They were on clearance, so I had to buy them.  I will remove the loops in the back and glue on pin hardware instead.

New Boots

I needed these.
My husband agreed.   He said my closet needed another pair of boots.  Good thing I bought them!
They are so comfy.

Finally Framed

In November 2007 a friend of mine & I flew to Paris for 4 nights.  This was my 3rd time visiting this beautiful city.  I was there in the summer of 1981 and 1986.  It was great to get reaquainted with Paris.
By the Pompidou Center there are many kiosks selling all kinds of Paris souveniers and memorabilia.  I picked up these 4 prints.  I had them sitting in my closest for over 2 years before finally framing them.  I walked into Home Goods and there they were, 4 frames that were the perfect color and size.  I knew right there & then that I had to buy them.  They turned out great and are now hanging in my hallway going up the stairs.

Paris was quite expensive so I really didn't buy much except a miniature Eiffel Tower and some chocolate, which to this day has not been opened because of the pretty way it is wrapped.

Au revoir for today!
