The Start of Something New

I had the yarn home and needed to make something with it.  I found a pattern and got started.
I bought this necklace in New York City a few years back.

Chinese Cabbage

The prep work is ultra important.  Wash, wash and rewash to get all the sand and dirt out.
We started with 4 pounds and this is what we ended up with!

New York City

Well the day didn't start out as planned.  My train was over an hour late.  So I took a commuter train to New Haven and hopped on the Acela train into Penn Station.  Problem solved!
Our first stop was Chinatown for some Dim Sum.  We ate at the Golden Unicorn.  This was the best Dim Sum we ever had!
The waitresses come around with carts of dim sum and you let them know what you would like and they hand it to you.

The dishes range from $2.25 to $4.95 each.
steamed vegetable dumplings, shrimp wrapped in bacon and spring rolls
My favorite - shrimp wrapped in rice noodles

pork wrapped in dough, steamed shrimp dumpling and wrapped sticky rice

pan fried vegetable dumplings
Greens
Street scenes from Chinatown
Vendor where I bought my baby cabbages
Next stop is a place where I have always wanted to go just to check it out - Pearl Soho

This place is a knitters and crafters paradise.  After all of our walking we took a much needed break.
I had one of my favorites - red velvet cake and my friend had strawberry shortcake
Then we worked our way back uptown
Empire State Building
The famous Flatiron Building
I bought these bracelets for my daughter - a little surprise for her
New York is a great city!

That is the name of this pattern that I got off of Ravelry.  It was very easy to knit and went realtively quick.
