N.Y.C.

Went to New York City yesterday - a day after a massive snow storm.  There was still a lot of snow, but it was mostly just slushy & messy.

Our destination was the New York Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center.
This is what the inside looks like.  Pictures are prohibited, but I took some without using the flash.

Large Swarovski chandeliers are suspended from the ceiling.  The picture does not capture just how exquisite they really are.

This is what we went to see.

After the opera we headed to 23rd Street and ate at a Spanish restaurant El Quijote.http://elquijoterestaurant.com//
The food was fabulous!
Then I was chauffeured home!

Well, not really - I took the train.

An Angelic Day

What can you make with some wire, safety pins, beads, wooden heads, crowns and pliers?

How about some adorable angels?

A guy I used to work with made these and he also made bells using different beads.  His grandmother had shown him how to make them and he in turn showed me.  Each one takes about 1/2 hour to make.  I use an assembly line type of method when I make these.  I make all the skirts first and then the wings and arms, etc.  It is much more efficient that way.  If you hang them a Christmas tree and put a white light under their skirt, they really light up.  They are also nice to put on presents with ribbons instead of the common bow.

Shells with Popcorn Stitch Afghan

I love to crochet afghans.  They are so easy and relaxing to make.  They really make a room feel more cozy.

My husband, T, and my son, P, are returning from a one weeks vacation to Florida.  It was great having a week off from cooking, laundry and cleaning!  Now it's back to reality.  It was nice having some "me" time, but I did miss them!

Happy Friday

I started a new sweater. Hopefully I'll have some time to relax and knit this weekend.

This is the pattern.

Snow Day

We were supposed to get 12 - 14 inches of snow. We got 6. It was a great day for just staying home.
I finished my book and worked on my cross stitch.

When done it will look like the illustration below.

Getting started...

I knitted these this winter using 2 strands of Paton's wool. Very easy and fast to knit.

Day One

Today is the day that I start my blog. This is something that I have wanted to do for over a year now. The time has come. I have read so many blogs over the last several years and have been inspired by so many talented people. Hopefully some of my creations will inspire someone too!

I made the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls over 15 years ago for my daughter.

First I would like to introduce my favorite boy, Gus. He is our 5 year old yellow lab.
