First Match of the Season

It was such a beautiful day for being outside, relaxing, eating a sandwich and watching a few tennis matches.

The sun kept our feet warm.

After the matches we went out for Mexican food.  It was outstanding!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

Who doesn't like chocolate and peanut butter? 

Tomorrow morning we are going to pick up our daughter at her college and drive to my son's college to watch him play tennis.  I made them each a plate of treats to share with their friends.  Since the yield is 11 dozen, I halved the recipe.

One Down and One to Go

I finally finished my quilt today.  I still have one more that I need to sandwich and finish.

Hurricane Irene

It's been a little over a week and finally things are getting back to normal.  We lost power for 3 1/2 days, which is a relatively short period of time compared to other areas.  Luckily we had a generator.  I had 4 days off from work due to no power - what a shame!  We finally got the internet back last night after over a week without it.

Cabled Sweater

Finally finished this sweater and I am really happy with the results.  This was such an easy knit.  It is knit in one continous piece from front to back and then the sleeve ribbings are added.

Montreal

After Quebec City we drove to Montreal.  We stopped at the Montmorency Falls for a hike and some pictures.

The Olympic Stadium where the 1976 summer Olympics took place.

The botanical garden is located close to the Olympic stadium and is well worth the visit.  The array of flowers, vegetables, trees, shrubs and bonsai collection makes it a great destination for those who enjoy nature.

On the way home.  Heading to the US border the land is flat and lined with dairy farms.

Quebec City

We drove through Vermont to get to Quebec City.  Our first stop was for breakfast at a local diner.

Along the way I was able to take lots of photos of great houses.

So much charm and character!

Now I know why Quebec City is considered to be the most "european" city in North America. 

The world famous Chateau Frontenac hotel.

A local boulangerie (bakery) is the best place to start your day.
