Christmas 2011

The holidays are are time for spending with family and of course overindulging - and we did both.

N.Y.C.

Went to New York to see Madama Butterfly at the Met.  When I got off the train Penn Station looked like this.

Lincoln Center looked like this.

When the show was over it looked like this.

Christms could be felt everywhere.

On our way to Rockefeller Center to see the magnificent Christmas tree we passed beautifully decorated store fronts.

We finally made it after fighting through a crush of people.  It was like a mob scene.

Not a Good Day for UCONN Soccer

We drove to UCONN with high expectations and were disappointed after 2 overtimes in the penalty kick shootout.  UCONN lost and is done for the season.

New Project

This looks like it may be a new project in the future.

Oreo Truffles

1 - 8oz cream cheese

1 bag oreo cookies

chocolate for melting and coating the truffles

That's all you need

Soften cream cheese

Put oreos in food processor to make crumbs

Combine the 2 ingredients - roll into balls - and coat in chocolate - done!

Just In Time

Tomorrow Caitlin is coming home from college for Thanksgiving break so I needed to get a move on and finish her surprise quilt.  I told her that I was making a "surprise" for her and she thinks it is either a knitted hat or scarf.  I refused to give her any hints.  Hopefully this quilt will exceed her expectations.

I decided to buy fat quarters so I didn't have to wait in the cutting line.  I am always in a rush.  I washed them all to reduce shrinkage.

New York City

Went to see the opera Nabucco at Lincoln Center yesterday.  It was a lovely day to spend with a good friend.  This picture was taken from the train when we were passing through Astoria.

As usual, we took a cab to our favorite breakfast joint on 53rd and 9th.
