Just In Time

Tomorrow Caitlin is coming home from college for Thanksgiving break so I needed to get a move on and finish her surprise quilt.  I told her that I was making a "surprise" for her and she thinks it is either a knitted hat or scarf.  I refused to give her any hints.  Hopefully this quilt will exceed her expectations.
I decided to buy fat quarters so I didn't have to wait in the cutting line.  I am always in a rush.  I washed them all to reduce shrinkage.
Sorry, this is not for you!

New York City

Went to see the opera Nabucco at Lincoln Center yesterday.  It was a lovely day to spend with a good friend.  This picture was taken from the train when we were passing through Astoria.
As usual, we took a cab to our favorite breakfast joint on 53rd and 9th.
Here are some more typical New York street scenes.

No Good

Two months ago I started a sweater which I had planned to wear right about now.  I chose large because of the measurements and because I knew I would be wearing something under it.  I knit the whole back and started a sleeve and couldn't get over the fact on how big it was.  I was not happy and I knew that I probably would not wear it if it didn't fit right.  So I unravelled the whole thing.  Now I can start again and this time in size small.

A Little Surprise and Frost

I decided to make some peanut butter cups and chocolate chip cookies to send to my kids at college as a little surprise.  I know they enjoy and appreciate receiving "thinking of you" packages via UPS.
They are so quick and easy to make.  Just melt chocolate and spoon them into the paper cups.  I spread the chocolate up the sides and then drop the peanut butter (I whip it up with confectioners sugar) on top and finish them off with the second layer of chocolate.  Done.
Next it was time to bake the chocolate chip cookies.
This morning we woke up to frost.  It is starting to get cold.

Rainbow Quilt

I decided to reduce my fabric stash and actually start using what I have.  A few days later I received a flyer from JoAnn Fabrics and the sales were too good to pass up, so I replenished not only what I used, but even more.
